An afternoon in the Hourglass District

Saturday Charlie and I stopped over in the Hourglass district for lunch and a drink just to get out of the house. For those we have not been, the Hourglass District is a new hotspot in town and is centered around the intersection of Curry Ford and Bumby. This cute little area is becoming quite popular and after our afternoon out it was clear as to why.

We started at the Hourglass Social House which is a food hall with four shops. I’ve been wanting to try out Leguminati basically since it opened and just had not had the chance so we made it happen. Leguminati, a vegan restaurant, is known for their OG Crunchwrap, a vegan take on the Taco Bell classic. I of course had to have one. It was great. Super filling, I only ate half in fact. Other shops in the food hall include a Foxtail Coffee, Tamale Co., and Le Ky Patisserie.

On our way into the Hourglass Social House we noticed a cute little Mexican restaurant next door so after I had my crunchwrap we headed over there to get Charlie some tacos.

The place, Cilantro’s, ended up being a super cute quick service little taco joint. Charlie just had their plain beef tacos ($2 each) but next time we go I want to check out their other taco options. The entire place was adorable and according to their Facebook page, they do a Taco Tuesday special of 3 tacos and a beer for $10. Can’t beat that!

Now that we were fed we headed over to Hourglass Brewing to try their new location across the street. Hourglass Brewing is from Longwood, but this summer they opened a new location in the district. Makes sense, right? Anyways, they have a nice large taproom and a great outdoor patio. Perfect for Saturday afternoon drinks. Their beer list is extensive and wine and cider are available as well. We will be back to test out that patio again in cooler weather.

I love that the hourglass district is right there, just a hop and a skip from downtown but without all the traffic and hubbub. Parking is easy as is getting there and there are many options for an outing in one location. Also, while we did not go on this trip, Peaceful Peacock Yoga is located next to the brewery and is my favorite yoga studio in town. Again, easy to get to and super relaxing.

Have you stopped by the Hourglass District yet? What is your favorite restaurant there?
